Shoptalk TV required a lean, high-performing crew to film a series of interviews in a controlled but fast-paced environment. With no B-roll, limited crew, and the need to film clean takes in real time, the margin for error was extremely small. The team also had to manage heavy gear with minimal hands, and find a way for clients and producers to monitor interviews without disrupting the set or interfering with sound recording.
Our 5-person team — two camera operators, one sound engineer, one editor, and one project manager — executed with tight coordination. To solve the monitoring challenge, we implemented a silent disco headset system. Ten wireless headsets were connected to the sound engineer’s mixer output, allowing producers and clients to listen in live from outside the filming area — without stepping into the set or affecting audio.
The system was plug-and-play: the sound engineer routed a clean audio feed into the silent disco transmitter, which then broadcast wirelessly to the headsets. This gave stakeholders real-time access to interviews in a non-intrusive way — a major upgrade to client experience, especially in a compact interview-only setup.
